Newcastle United Fringe Stars face loan interest

A host of fringe Newcastle United stars are attracting interest from Championship sides considering loan deals, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The St James’ Park side want to offload a number of fringe players as they make room for new faces, with goalkeeper Nick Pope arriving this week and defender Sven Botman set to land next week.

However, attracting buyers proved difficult, with Championship clubs posting interest on loans.

Stars surplus to requirements, including Karl Darlow, Dwight Gayle, Jeff Hendrick and Matt Ritchie, are all being watched by second-tier teams.

Newcastle may have to forget about permanently offloading several players and settle for loan exits instead.

Marksman Darlow made eight Premier League appearances for the Magpies last season, conceding 15 goals.

Ritchie meanwhile made 18 Premier League appearances last season, while Hendrick spent the second half of last season in the Championship on loan at QPR.

Striker Gayle had just 30 minutes of Premier League football at Newcastle last season, appearing against Watford, Wolves, Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester City, Norwich City and Arsenal.
