CNB Bank chief to chair Federal Home Loan Bank

CARLINVILLE – The vice president of a financial institution based in Carlinville has been elected president of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago.

James T. Ashworth, Vice Chairman of CNB Bank & Trust, was elected Chairman of the Board. He has been a member of its board of directors since 2013.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago is one of 11 national banks and covers Illinois and Wisconsin. The board consists of 10 members — six from institutions in Illinois and four from Wisconsin — and eight independent directors from organizations that support the nation’s housing industry.


Ashworth joined CNB Bank & Trust in 1978 and served as Vice Chairman since 1989 and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1989 to 1997, as well as Vice Chairman and Chairman of its holding company, CNB Bank Shares, since 1989.

CNB Bank & Trust has 18 locations, including Carrollton, Chapin, Jacksonville and Jerseyville.
